S Cal? Sequoia Natl Forest up out of Ridgecrest off of 395. During the week, weekends get busy. KTM's are nice bikes. Used to own one back in my racing days. My dad just rode one down the Continental Divide. If you are in southern California I know of a few places that are fun. Spent one or two weekends a month in the desert, did this for over 10 years.

Tips: if in doubt, gas it. :) Butt off the seat in the whoops with your weight back.

How does this compare to a honda bike? My friend used to have a KTM and loved it.

    KTM TIPS AND TRICKS

Looking for KTM ins or outs. Take it from those that run them and race them. Lets start off guys and gals by talking about matienence. This is so important to keep your machine in prime cond. Oil every 30 +hrs if riding hard if you dont ride hard 40-70 hrs. plugs every season. And dont leave gas in that tank... if you do it will gum up the jets. esp race gas. If you have jets that are gummed please use Sea Foam to Clean your carb and Jets through a intake process from running it through the gas. When you store the bike use fuel stabil for all your stuff and disconnect the battery if your not riding it.

    Buying gear and parts.

I will always want to see and feel a part or a pair of paints and jersey before I buy. However thats great just dont buy it when you see it at the local shop. Look for it online once you know what you want. And my rule is any item over 20$ is worth the research in some cases. And then tell the parts guy at the local shop hey i saw mototsport had it for 30$ less will you match it?? 8 out of 10 times they will discount a min of 20% or give you the same low price which is normally no better than 10% over cost. Hey they have to pay the bills nothing is free. But this will save you hundreds over the 1000$ wou will spend over the yrs riding. Exapmle i could give for every 300$ I spend I try will always save a min of 60-80$ off what it cost.

    KTM LIGHTING

Well as you all know Ktm has a high power stator. And that my friends gives us light and can be lots of it. And dont get a rewind statot unless you race, this will damage the reliability of that great stock stator. You can add a Light to any of the KTM excepts the kids bikes I'm sure those would need stator mods. But 125 CC and up esp the thumpers you can run one even 2 lights. There are several great lights out there and the top lights are the Baja Designs and than theTrail tech Eclipse. The thing about the  BD diablo it runs a hid bulb with a external ballast which has to fire for the light and  it is exposed to elements on the back of the head lamp. VS the eclipse has a internal lighting ballast only one of its kind and has a lower watt draw of 35watts vs 50 watts diablo. What this means is you can run the double light from eclispe which is 60watt draw and twice the light and do this without a stator mod. but if you have a 525 or higher you are good either way don't worry. If you race or ride on the weekend for the price i would let you decide. lets see twice the light for the same price . This makes the Trail tech the way to go they also make great lights for rhinos and  OHV stuff as well. Don't get me wrong I used to run the baja diablo until mine got shattered and than it was simple for me to decide. There is also pics online that has the comparison of the 2... google it.

Couple tips for those who ride

#1 HOW TO AVOID ARM PUMP?? Well those that get this know how bad it can get and it comes on strong. I know when pushing the pace it gets tiring quick and the most important part is how to get through that pump. ADVIL take one or two depending on weight before you ride and I promiss you it will reduce of over 50% in arm pump and maybe it will all be gone.

#2 HOW TO AVOID PINCH TUBES.. When changing a tire make sure you use good spoons the ones that can cost as much as 30-40$ each. This helps on install. But most of all use baby powder. squeeze a squirt or two into the tire area around the tube before you bead the tire back around the rim. And when putting the tire on or taking it off use a soapy water 10\1 mix ratio and apply by hand or brush this will allow the tire to slide on better or off. And last of all PSI If running heavy duty tubes13-16 always member air pressure increases with heat.. and if standard tubes go with higher 14-16 psi due to the tire is more prone to fold on sidewall cause the tube has more flex. If You ride hard pack or desert in cali I will give you this tip as well 18inch rear tire is a must. 19 inch is for no rocks and ruts doing 80MPH. Well thats only if you ride orange cause you could be eating roost as i go by..:O)
